Workshop on Ethical Content Creation in the Age of AI

How to ethically create content using artificial intelligence was the central theme of the workshop “Artificial Intelligence in Journalism: Creation for Content Development and Ethical Reporting,” organized by the Institute for Communication Studies (ICS) on November 28, 2024. The five-hour workshop included theoretical discussions and practical exercises.

Participants explored the AI tools for creating various types of content, debated ethical dilemmas related to AI use, and worked on real-life scenarios that applied theoretical concepts in practice. They actively engaged in discussions, proposed innovative ideas for using AI, and took part in group activities. The group work fostered problem-solving and idea-sharing, leading to a deeper understanding and creative solutions. Participants expressed the need for more frequent workshops focused on creating visual content with AI.

Ethical concerns, especially those related to data misuse, were not overlooked. The workshop also highlighted calls to integrate media literacy and ethics into journalism education. It was organized as part of the project TADAM: Tools and Awareness on (Dis)Information, Algorithms, and Media, implemented by ICS together with eight partners from across Europe. The project is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
